ARTIST’S STATEMENT

We are primarily surrounded by the familiar, so much so that it becomes an unnoticed blur around us. Sometimes the banality is broken by a light, a colour or a vague sense of unease. I aim to catch the moment when life’s monotony tangles with our imagination. I am interested in translating these feelings unto canvas, selecting mundane scenes and showcasing the delicate balance between the boring and the interesting.

Working with portraiture, that translates a myriad of states of being as well manmade landscapes heightens these emotions as the natural panorama is broken up by human intervention; whether it be by architecture or by the human form.
